What
is the Disneyland Challenge?
The
Disneyland Challenge (DLC) is a morning at Disneyland
filled with adventure, clues, hints, fun, trivia,
treasure, competition, friendship, companionship, awards
and prizes.
We have two
different challenges each year, a Beginner's for the
first timers and an Advanced for those who have already
done the Beginner's.
The
Beginner's Challenge is the same each year and
is geared towards getting to know and appreciate the
little unnoticed things that can make Disneyland a
much more enjoyable and interesting destination.
No need to be a Disneyland specialist, just a desire
to learn and have a great time. It includes
fun facts and questions from all over the park.
(Main Street USA, Adventureland, Tomorrowland,
Fantasyland, Frontierland, Critter Country)
Time is up at noon and we meet (usually at the
Golden Horseshoe) to review answers and hand out
awards. (They have great food available for
lunch.)
The
Advanced Challenge has different clues each year
so as to be challenging for everyone It
usually focuses on increasing your knowledge about a
few attractions or areas of the park. (One
year there was even a mystery involved.) Teams
usually have two hours to complete it before meeting
for awards.
Everything you need to win
for both challenges will be
at Disneyland and only at Disneyland.
We meet
before the park opens and hand out a packet that you
will carry with you throughout the park as you fill in
the answers.
This is a
point based challenge and not a road rally. No
extra points are awarded for speed.
Prizes are
awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winning teams in each
category. The more teams that participate, the
bigger the prizes. The entry fees pay for
prizes.
The
afternoon and evening is free/fun time (a good time for
a nap back at the hotel too).
We usually
try to gather in the evening for the Fireworks and/or
Fantasmic (both great shows worth the ticket to Disneyland).
Exact event
times and other information will be announced closer to
the DLC when Disneyland announces its current schedule.
Because of
the possible rigors required for portions of the DLC, if
you bring wee ones, it is suggested that you set up your
own babysitting arrangements during the actual DLC.
The cost to
participate is $30 per team per challenge. Again,
park admission, parking, your hotel room, gas, vehicle,
clothing, deodorant, Depends, etc. are NOT included.
