2007 Disneyland Challenges,
September 28
Thank you
to all those who participated this year! There were
over 40 participants
(including wee ones)!
I hope you
had a good time being with family & friends.
On the Beginners side – The Thompson’s wowed
everyone by hanging out at Café Orleans when anyone saw
them during the challenge, so everyone would think they
just gave up, then show up with the winning score! Yep,
that was Laurie in the picture above and she did play,
and she and Chrysti came in a close Second Place,
without causing any death or carnage in Disneyland.
Thankfully the crowds were low enough that Laurie didn’t
get a chance to land a good swing on any innocent
bystanders. There’s still some controversy over which
one is Dee and which one is Dum. The Psychotic
Squirrels & Niel were burning up the place with their
advanced knowledge of the Mara language, Niel’s
heightened sense of chocolate, and Phil’s advanced
engineering solutions of the challenge. For some reason
the combination didn’t meld for winning the challenge,
but did meld one of the funnest teams, having the best
time at Disneyland.
On our
Advanced Challenge -
We had a recent change of placement for the winners of
the Advanced Challengers. The M&M team found a
miscalculation in their total which dropped them to
Second Place and upped the Momsters Inc. to First
Place. How great is it to have a bunch of super honest
fun loving people get together for a break from normal
life!
We learned from the Nielsen’s that taking a “Walk in
Walt’s Footsteps” tour can be very helpful in finding
out those juicy tidbits that might be found on a
Disneyland Challenge. Kara & Lisa proved again that
Moms rule at this game, even with four wee ones in tow.
The Andersons are still champions in total attendance
days at Disneyland, and know their stuff about what to
do while at Disneyland. The Spencer’s were cheering BYU
the whole way, and were nipping at the heels of the
winners with a close Fourth Place, and some great finds
of drinking water fountains I missed. Alyssa, Michael,
Angee & Robby showed us what the young married team is
made of. Alyssa & Michael redeemed themselves from
their previous record low score of 23, by being right
behind the Spencer’s. Connor was a big help by leading
the young marrieds to diaper changing locations where
drinking water fountains are often found. Stephenie &
Ryan made a great effort by doubling their previous
scores and dared to do the teen challenge. The
Crampton’s showed us what Megacompucyberbots are made of
with a mega cheer and uniforms that I’m sure were the
envy of all. The Parry’s had the greatest time riding
King Arthur’s Carrousel. They (mainly Janie) suggest
that we need a Disneyland Shopping Challenge next time!
I’m guessing we’d have a load of ladies and an even
greater lack of men folk (based on the glazed look Doug
& Doug’s faces had as they were sitting on a bench
Saturday waiting for the ladies to finish shopping).
Finally there were Kira & Ericka showing us what the
Coolest Girls Around do – just hang out and look cool.
At least that beautiful baby didn’t lack for hunger or
attention.
Congrats to those that won Year of a Million Dreams
prizes. I saw a Dream FastPass and some special Mickey
ears.

If you have pictures that you would be willing to
share with us, we would appreciate it!
(We didn't take individual team photos this year and
have cropped these from the large group photo.)
