2006
Disneyland Challenges, October 6
I was amazed at how many of the advanced teams took on
the challenge of some of the really hard questions and
got correct answers. Our usual meeting place in the
balcony of the Golden Horseshoe was a bit too crowded,
but I worried about losing people if we went to the
picnic area outside the front gates with short notice.
We didn’t have enough time with 3 challenges to go over
all the little details during scoring and then get to
the usual info and stories. Hopefully everyone learned
that there is more to do at Disneyland then just ride
the rides, which are great too.
It was great to hear all the smack going on about who
was going to win. Some groovy uniforms and awesome
cheers this time made things more fun for everyone.
Very interesting tactics by some of the Broby clan –
waiting for another team to get their uniforms made,
then just confiscate their uniforms (didn’t want to say
the word steal).
Jenny Broby was awesome as the person picked to fiddle
with Billy Hill and the Hillbillies during our awards
intermission at the Golden Horseshoe. I have some great
videos of that performance.
The Parry’s were chose as honorary citizens of the day.
Although a veteran is usually chosen to help with the
closing flag ceremony, Doug Parry the younger was chosen
for being an Eagle Scout. This is another one of those
little details that is often missed at Disneyland – the
very emotional, patriotic closing flag ceremony.
A special thanks to Wayne Kalama who wasn’t going to
make it, but came anyway and gave a condensed review of
his work with Disney.
Thanks to Ericka Nelson and Wendy Spencer for putting
together team lists and gathering money and handing out
the challenge booklets.
Thank you Nielsen’s for taking my chillen so I could go
over early to verify a few last minute things.
